At Attention
I have always been fascinated by palm trees when they get moved. First, they have to dig them up and then crop off most of the fronds. Then they tie them together so the tree looks like a very long paint brush.I still have one of my first palm tree photos framed in my studio. I shot it in Palm Springs with my first SX 70 camera back in 1978 or so. Whenever I run across these trees and there is interesting light going on I just can’t help myself, I have to stop and make a photo. This was one of those times. The American Flag is another iconic symbol I never tire of using in my images. In this case the flag adds to the composition and then spins a loop around the top of the frame when all of a sudden, the tall paint brush has a red white and blue flag flying. This is a study in composition and weight of a photograph. 5 trees and one flagpole. Heavy bottom light top. Simple linear composition with a solid middle line.
